why i'm m.i.a.
friends, sorry i haven't been able to pop in this space for a while! my husband fell 25' off a rock climbing wall about two weeks ago, shattering his wrists and breaking his back in two places. he is mending beautifully and we feel very blessed his injuries were as minor as they were, all things considered. but i have obviously not been sewing or blogging as our family life is upside down right now. i am so sorry i can't be here to help you with the gypsy wife qal right now as planned, but megan is still posting at her blog, jaffa quilts, and can answer questions. thanks for understanding and i hope to be back with you by next month! please excuse me from answering emails and returning comments for a while. if i find a moment, i will.

OMG!! So glad to hear that your DH is on the mend. Super scary as DS1 is also a rock climber!
ReplyDeleteHope you will get back on track soon. Health is a bugger. All the running around is hard. Take care, don't wear yourself down. Good luck for the hubby

ReplyDeleteI totally understand! Life often interrupts our plans. You take all the time in the world to help your husband get back on his feet. That must have been a scary horrid "ride"!
ReplyDeleteOMG! All the best for your husband and you really don't need to excuse anything in this situation! Wish you luck!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Germany,
Rike
Sending healing thoughts and best wishes for a speedy recovery. All else can wait.
ReplyDeleteTake all your time and glad things are doing well and he has a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Bless your heart - thanks for letting us know. Our family went through a similar thing about 16 years ago when my husband fell from a roof. Compound fracture at the ankle, broken back. The doctors put him back together and he recovered well. Faiths, prayers and blessings helped. It might be a tough time, but you will make it through!
ReplyDeleteI am about to start a Gypsy Wife Quilt so searching online for photos I found your blog. Because of the nature of blogs I had to back up to your first post about GWQA and found you lovely post about quilters being impatient and how you are planning to slow down and enjoy it more. I think it was a preparation for your current circumstances! Hope your hubby heals well soon. I have been involved in quilting all my life and I am 61. My grandma was a master quilter and I wish I had spent more time learning from her. I started focusing more on quilting in the 90's when a friend started having classes at her home. Rulers and rotary cutters were pretty new then and high quality quilt fabric was not readily available. I have had a few interruptions in my quilting journey since then...a broken arm in a full cast made quilting a bit difficult and world travel kept interfering. But I want to encourage you that those WIP's will be waiting and even if you finish them in 20 years (like I recently did for a quilt I started in 1996) it's still such a fun journey. I think that impatience you talked about is why many of us buy so much fabric...we wish we had time to get them all made NOW! So rest easy, your quilts and your blog will wait while you attend to the more important things- your family!
ReplyDeleteOh my!! I've been so behind lately on keeping up with my favorite blogs, so I am just seeing this. I'm praying for your husband Hydee, and for your whole family as you continue to help him heal from this. Hugs to you!
